2Pac is one of the best selling music artists in the world, selling more than 75 million albums. He died from the injuries (multiple gunshot wounds) he sustained during a drive by shooting in Nevada, USA.

hillel slovak - red hot chilli peppers (aged 26)
The original guitarist and one of the founding members of the Chillis died following a heroin overdose. Known for his experimental style with different stringed instruments and genres, Slovak was inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame.
marc bolan (aged 29)
Marc Bolan had top ten hits as front man of the 70s glam rock band T-Rex and was part of the glam movement in the 70s spearheaded by Bowie. He was a singer, songwriter and guitarist and was also known for writing poetry and anyone that wears a top hat on stage is alright by us. He has influenced many musicians in the last 40 years including Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. He was born in London and died in 1977 in a car accident.
Richey edwards - manic street preachers
Richey was a lyricist and musician with band the Manic Street Preachers. He was also their main spokesman and achieved notoriety for carving '4 Real' on his arm following a spat with radio presenter Steve Lamacq.
He was officially presumed dead in 2008 however was believed to have committed suicide and was actually 27 years old when he went missing. Many manics fans believe he is in the Forever 27 Club - from the mail we get many also believe he's still alive (there have been numerous 'sightings)'
otis redding (aged 26)
The American Soul and R&B legend Otis Redding was a singer/songwriter who influenced The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, The Doors and Janis Joplin. More recent artists that cite Redding including Kanye West.
After his death in a plane crash, Redding received numerous accolades including the rock and roll hall of fame and a Grammy for lifetime achievement.
johnny kidd - johnny kidd & the pirates (aged 30)
Kidd (Frederick Albert Heath) wrote a UK number one (Shaking All Over) and was one of the early pioneers of dressing up for his act. He was famous across the World before The Beatles.
He died at the age of 30 in a car accident.
tim buckley (aged 28)
Wrote some stunning songs and influenced British indie band Starsailor. HIs career was beginning to take off playing to sold out venues when after a gig he took heroin (reportedly given to him by his friend) and died (1975). His friend (Richard Keeling) pleased guilty to involuntary manslaughter. At one point he was signed to the Doors label Elektra Records. Buckley's son is the singer songwriter Jeff Buckley.

Jeff Buckley like his father had a successful music career that achieved global fame after he died (a tragic verdict accidental drowning in 1997).
He became best known for a hauntingly brilliant cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah.'
jason thirsk - pennywise (aged 26)
Jason Thirsk took his own life after a struggle with depression and alcohol addiction. He was the bass player of US punk band Pennywise.
bradley nowell - sublime (aged 28)
Bradley was lead singer and guitarist of Ska Punk band Sublime. They sold some 6 million copies of an album released after his death (according to music magazines). He died of a heroin overdose in 1996.
