Amy Winehouse divided opinion but there was no doubt she was one of the most talented artists of her generation. In addition to song writing awards and a Brits win, she won 5 Grammys in one night as was nominated for a Mercury music prize.

She mixed several genres to accomplish her own unique sound at a time when many young women lacked a strong role model in the music world.  She provided it much as Kurt Cobain did with Nirvana and her style influenced thousands worldwide.  She died at her home from alcoholic poisoning in July 2011.
